Things I'm Loving Right Now (just another bullet point post)

+ My students (seriously-they are so cute and hilarious), but also my prep period, which is much needed after trying to keep up with the energy my student's have. BLESS THE PREP. Since my prep is after lunch, I get lunch time + 45 minutes to rest and recover, which brings me to the next thing I've been loving:

+ McDonald's in Herriman. It's just so welcoming with the waterfall in front of the drive-thru and the never-ending supply of foam cups! Oh, and Scott who always laughs when I pull up to the window is a nice touch.

+ THIS Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I wouldn't say it's better than the Beauty Blender, but it's definitely a great option when you make a teacher's salary and don't want to drop $20 on a sponge ;)

+ THE ELLEN SHOW. I've always loved watching Ellen, but I can't help but appreciate it more now that it's on after I come home from work. It's a Mon-Fri ritual to come home and not do anything school related until after Ellen.

+ The flowers Chris brought home last Friday ("just because!") that are now being proudly displayed on the kitchen counter.

+ The Ghirardelli Pumpkin Spice Caramel chocolates that my mom brought home for me from Chicago. I know, I know... so basic it hurts!

+ Chris wanting to go on bike rides with me any chance that we get. I like pretending that when people see us riding our bikes together that they think we're a fitness savvy couple.

+ The fact that it's my birth week and I'll be getting my free gifts from Ulta and Sephora! Yasss please.

+ That I've made it through another Monday!

Horizontal Running

I can't believe another Red Rock Relay has come and gone...

So much driving. So much laughing. So much FUN!

And let me just tell you about my team this year... we had all the originals from last year plus even more awesome people! Awesome as in they had a McDonald's diet Dr. Pepper (in a foam cup!) waiting for me after my last leg type of awesome. MY KIND OF PEOPLE! Also, my team was so nice and understanding about me having to miss my first leg because I couldn't miss work. Totally lucked out being on the Horizontal Runners team.

I'm pretty sure that none of us Horizontal Runners really signed up to do this for the running. It was more for the hanging out in St. George, going to Swig, swimming, laughing at dirty jokes and staying up late with good company--making the getting hardly any sleep, hearing ghosts, and running with injuries totally WORTH IT!

Seriously, I had so much fun this year and I can't help but hope that I'll be able to do it again next year with the same people... which is saying something when you've spent 31 hours in the car with someone.

Weird Things I Like

1. Infomercials. Yes, you read that right--infomercials! Those ridiculous, cheesy, hour-long things that are on at 3 in the morning when you wake up to the TV still on and you can't find the remote. The huge words that flash across the screen and the constant BUT WAIT! THAT'S NOT ALL YOU'LL GET WHEN YOU CALL IN THE NEXT 30 MINUTES! is just captivating to me! + My gullible heart can't help but believe that of course, I need that!

2. Soggy cereal. Okay, soggy might not be the right word. How about... soft? al dente? Whatever the correct term may be, it takes me a good 2 minutes to stir up my cereal to ensure that every piece of cereal is coated in milk and NOT crunchy. I know, I know... a very unpopular opinion around these parts.

3. Sleeping in socks. Another unpopular opinion, but holy comfy town population: me! Bonus when it's Winter and I can sleep in a sweater, sweatpants, AND socks.

4. Stalking myself.  Because I'm so vain... but, don't you ever stalk yourself and try to do it from a complete stranger's point of view? Like what vibes am I putting off on social media?! Answer: I'm a freaking spokesperson for Swig (not bitter at all about never winning Swig giveaways...).

5. Cheekbones & Eyebrows. Almost like these things TOO much... but maybe that's because I don't have either of them, so I have to love them on other people? I blame my love of makeup. But if you have good eyebrows and/or cheekbones, it's more than likely that I've already congratulated you on them + fantasized about slapping highlighter and pomade on your face. It's fine.

My attempt to blog about other things besides teaching + grading assignments while watching Friends (season 6--I love you!) + waiting for a questionable application of self-tanner to dry.

It's September 1st

Which means . . .
+ That I've officially been teaching for a week! Which also means a whole lot of other things like holy physically and emotionally exhausting! I arrive early, leave late, and then toss and turn all night because I can't shut my brain off. But don't let my cry for help-I'm-a new-teacher-and-don't-know-what-the-heck-I'm-doing (!!!) fool you -- I love it! My students are so adorable, and not as awkward as I remember being in junior high. Like, where's the blue eye shadow girls?! And where are the polo shirts with the popped collar, boys?! Also, I may or may not have done the whip nae nae in front of my students last week... so there's that.

+ Chris and I had what we called our "last hoorah" yesterday. Our last hoorah involved riding our bikes to Sonic and then having our hopes and dreams crushed when the guy who took our order told us that shakes are no longer 1/2 priced after 8. So, water and a very watered down lemon berry slush it was! And what better way to celebrate our last hoorah than by taking a super cute picture at Sonic like this one:

+ Chris started his second year at grad school today! My picture-taking heart was crushed that I wasn't able to take a first day of school picture for him this morning, but hopefully the note I left in his lunch made up for it. Chris has decided to double up on classes this semester so that he can finish school early... I'm so proud of him!!! But so not looking forward to being husband-less on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the next year. I like to tell myself that I can do hard things... and that there's always Netflix.

+ I'm going to be THAT girl who won't shut up about Fall and how much she loves it... even if it's still 95 degrees out, but my Pumpkin Pecan Waffles candle can't wait any longer! And don't be surprised if you start seeing berry lip colors and "scarecrow hats" (as Chris likes to call them) on my Insta... I can't suppress my inner basic white girl much longer!

+ It's officially my birthday month! And not just any birthday, but my GOLDEN birthday, which really means that Chris' email is about to get spammed with lots of links or as I like to call them, "gift ideas."

YES SEPTEMBER. WELCOME!
