Taco SaturDATE

Do you think a couple that intentionally puts sweatpants on before going out to dinner can afford $11 tacos? Let me rephrase that... do you think a couple that intentionally puts sweatpants on before going out to dinner is willing to spend $11 on tacos? I'll let you decide...

After seeing Masa Mexican restaurant pop up countless times on my insta feed + being recommended by one of my students, I convinced Chris that we should go try it on Saturday night. We weren't quite sure what to expect. Okay, that's a lie. I did know what to expect because I read reviews on Yelp and Urbanspoon, but Chris didn't because I "forgot to mention" that the reviews had the words "fresh" "organic" and "ambiance" in them--not the words we typically look for in restaurant reviews.

I knew it was going to be a little pricey, but I was expecting more like 180 Tacos pricey ($2 a taco at 180 Tacos is pricey to us Gourley's), not $11 for two tacos pricey! I will admit, they were yummy tacos (fist pump to whoever decided to put green apples on a steak taco!), but me and Chris both agreed they weren't that yummy. "We could both eat at Chubby's for the price of two tacos!" I guess we're just all about that Del Taco life.

So if you haven't already figured it out, the answer is NO--couples that intentionally put sweatpants on before going out to dinner are not willing to spend $11 on tacos. They are, however, willing to share one plate of tacos because they plan to go to Del Taco and Juice Press right after. Oh, and they're also willing to be in bed by 9:00 on a Saturday night.

Do you guys want to be friends with us? WE ARE COOL DANG IT!

Fridate on a Tuesday

Ahh Utah... where the shorts come to the knees, fry sauce is readily available (a main reason I never want to leave Utah), and where we celebrate Pioneer Day! I love it. Since me and Chris don't have to work on Pioneer Day tomorrow, we decided to treat today like a Friday. So what did we do? We went to a bar. Yes--a bar. Even it was just for the burgers. Ohhhh man. The burgers! If you have ever talked to me or Chris, chances are we've already talked your ear off about Lucky 13's burgers. So to save yourself an earful, just go there and get a burger, okay? You won't regret it. Oh, and don't let the names of the burgers throw you off, either. The Bacon Stinky burger is ahhhh-mazing. I was going to try the Nut Butter (snicker, snicker) burger that has peanut butter, bacon, and cheese on it, but I wussed out. No matter! I have already pinky promised myself that I am getting it the next time we go no matter how much my mind tries to convince me that peanut butter and meat just don't go together.

Tonight I was reminded of how different married life is compared to dating life. Mostly because me and Chris were sitting in complete silence scarfing down our dinner and did not feel one ounce of  pressure to keep a conversation going (is that bad?).The fact that I ordered a burger called the Bacon Stinky (bacon + blue cheese + onions) and extra garlic-y fries, blatantly knowing that I did not have a single piece of gum in my purse to aid the stinky after dinner, is an unfortunate reminder for Chris that we have transitioned into  married-dating and not just dating anymore (no joke, I used to carry two packs of gum in my purse when I was dating Chris because I was so self conscious of my breath ha!). Perhaps the biggest realization was when me and Chris relieved our full bellies of buttoned up pants (which get tighter and tighter everyday) once completely out of the public eye?

Oh married life, I wouldn't trade you for anything--not even for the ability to keep my top button on my pants done up all day.

a piece of advice + a photo.

Guys, I really should just give up this blog challenge... But I still can't get myself to do it! So just keep expecting me to play catch-up. Anyway, here is a combination of day six and day seven: A piece of advice and photo of a moment in my day.

Me and my friend Lauren went to Cubby's, and oh.my.goodness. so YUM! Guys, Lauren is from Indiana, which automatically qualifies her as a beef specialist (le duh), and even she approved. We both got burgers with mac n' cheese*, and then immediately regretted that decision as soon as we saw the salads. Their salads are HUGE (CAPITAL LETTERS HUGE!) and we saw a guy eating the tri-tip steak salad which is safe to assume that it's a pretty dang good salad, right? Right! Expect another food critique in the near future on said salad. Don't get me wrong though, the burgers were good. I would recommend the Houdini, or the Dragonslayer.

My advice to you: GO TO CUBBY'S!

*I've had sacrament cups that are bigger than the side of mac n' cheese they gave me with my burger--order a side of fries. I promise that was my only complaint though.
